STUDY ON THE ORAL MANIFESTATIONS IN PATIENTS WITH UREMIA AND CHRONIC GLOMERULONEPHRITIS.

Abstract
The author has studied the oral manifestations by means of exfoliative cytologic method and deviation of salivary pH in patients of uremia and chronic glormerulonephritis.
Among the subjects, the control group was consisted of 50 healthy persons, and experimental group was consisted of 30 patients of uremia and 20 patients of chronic glomerulonephritis.
The cytologic results were performed with modified Pharr¢¥s staining technique of Papanicolaou method.
The measurement of salivary pH value was performed with pH meter 27 radiometer Copenhagen.
Followings were the results.
1. Of 30 uremic and 20 Chronic glomerulonephritic patients who undergone dialysis during 2. 5 years period, 32 had xerostomia, 3 had oral petechiae or ecchymoses, 18 had uremic or nephritic stomatitis and their types were pseudomembranous or exudative inflammation.
2. Exfoliative cytologic findings from the lesion of uremic or nephritic stomatitis were 3.82% yellow staining cells, 68.33% red staining cells, 14.50% red and green staining cells, and 13.34% green staining cells, including with severe increase of bacteria and leukocytes.
And the gingiva of uremic or nephritic patients who had not uremic stomatitis showed yellow staining cells 11. 25%, red staining cells 63.25%, red and green staining cells 11.80% and green staining cells 11.80%.
3. The average salivary pH value of healthy persons was 7.51 and that of uremic or nephritic patients 7. 67.
